Slate Stone Care

Slate Stone

This is a fine-grained metamorphic rock that is formed through the low-grade metamorphism of shale or mudstone. Though slate can be composed of clay minerals or micas depending on the degree of metamorphism, it may also contain amounts of quartz, feldspar, calcite, pyrite, and hematite. Because of its durability and attractiveness, it is popular for flooring and roofing.
